CROSS-SECTIONS FOR EXCITATION OF ODD SEPTET LEVELS OF THE IRON ATOM

Cross sections for excitation of odd septet levels of the iron atom ar e measured by the method of extended crossing beams. The effect of var ious factors on the measurement results is analyzed. The correction fo r the transit time of excited atoms across the field of view of an opt ical system is introduced. The experimental results are used to calcul ate the cross sections for excitation of energy levels.
