Abstract
A numerical method is proposed to predict the failure of mechanical st ructures. It is based on the generalization of the classical static sh akedown theorem to damaged inelastic structures. Ductile plastic damag e is taken into account by using the models of Lemaitre and Shichun-Hu a.
