Abstract
The remeshing option of the commercial FE-code ABAQUS is used to study crack propagation in elastic-plastic materials. Propagation is accomp lished with a combination of remeshing and nodal relaxation. The resul ts are compared with analyses using nodal release only. Substantial cr ack growth is achieved with less computer time and higher accuracy tha n in conventional FE analysis. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A. All righ ts reserved.
