Abstract
The constituents of 13 species of bamboos and bamboo grasses were inve stigated. Almost all the species gave isoorientin and related flavone 6-C-glycosides as major constituents of leaves. Tricin 5-O-beta-D-gluc opyranoside and p-coumaric acid were also obtained as minor ones in so me cases. (-)-Lyoniresinol 3a-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside and (+)-lyonire sinol 3a-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside mere common constituents in culms of 4 species examined. 3,4,5-Trimethoxyphenol beta-D-glucopyranoside, ko aburaside, 2,6-dimethoxy-p-benzoquinone, p-coumaric acid, sinapic alde hyde and ferulyl aldehyde occurred also in culms sporadically. Arbutin was a constituent of roots of a species examined.
