Dh. Sochart et al., FAILURE OF THE SPIRAL BLADE MODULE OF THE AO UNREAMED FEMORAL NAIL, Archives of orthopaedic and trauma surgery, 117(6-7), 1998, pp. 415-417
The treatment of subtrochanteric femoral fractures remains difficult d
espite the introduction of modern intramedullary nailing techniques. A
ccurate fracture reduction, correct siting of the proximal entry point
and restoration of medial support remain essential for a successful o
utcome. We report a case of failure of the spiral blade module of the
AO unnamed femoral nail, which may have been precipitated by incorrect
siting of the entry point, resulting in poor implant positioning with
in the femoral head.
