Abstract
Glass ceramic ferrules composed of SiO2-Al2O3-Li2O-MgO-TiO2-ZrO2-K2O-Z nO-BaO have been fabricated by a preform drawing process. These ferrul es show good dui ability in hot and humid conditions and when immersed in water. A glass ceramic ferrule is the most suitable ferrule to rea lise low cost optical connector for fibre to the home.
