A capillarity-like phenomenon induced by vertical vibration has been o
bserved by inserting a vertical narrow tube in a Faraday experiment fo
r granular material. A systematic measurement of the strength of the u
pward transport of grains in the tube has been carried out under vario
us excitation conditions. The results show that there are many similar
ities between the upward transport of the grains in a narrow tube to t
hose in a heaping system without a tube, such as the auto-amplificatio
n behavior, dependence on the excitation parameters, and average upwar
