I. Skillen et al., THE ABSOLUTE MAGNITUDES OF RR LYRAE STARS .5. WY ANTLIAE, W CRATERIS,RV OCTANTIS AND BB PUPPIS, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 265(2), 1993, pp. 301-315
We present infrared (JHK) light curves and radial velocity curves for
four southern hemisphere RRab Lyraes (WY Ant, W Crt, RV Oct and BB Pup
) and an infrared light curve for one RRc Lyrae (AU Vir). Absolute mag
nitudes are determined for the RRab stars, using a combination of the
infrared flux method and the Baade-Wesselink method. Including these f
our stars, there are now 29 RR Lyraes that have been analysed, using t
hese, or similar, methods. The best-fitting lines to these stars are [
M(V)]= 0.21(+/- 0.05)[Fe/H]+ 1.04(+/- 0.10) and [M(K)]= - 2.95(+/- 0.1
0) log P - 1.07(+/- 0.10), where the quoted errors are, we believe, re
alistic rather than formal or internal.
