Abstract
Suppression of stimulated Raman scattering is demonstrated in a single mode fibre by single polarised, dual-frequency pumping. The suppressio n mechanism, based on the spectral asymmetry of the Raman susceptibili ty, is most efficient when the frequency spacing between the pumps is 26THz, twice the Raman shift.
