Abstract
The effects of monensin on morphogenesis and chemical composition of w all fractions of Botrytis cinerea were studied. The ionophore inhibits the fungal growth, modifies the ultrastructure and induces modificati ons of various monomers. We observed the decrease of neutral sugars, a mino acids and uronic acids, and an increase of inorganic phosphorus a nd amino sugars (chitin) specially in fraction F4. These results show that monensin affects the vesicular traffic and enzymes responsible fo r normal wall synthesis and therefore normal growth.
