Sh. Yu et al., BENZENE-THERMAL SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF ULTRAFINE POWDERS OF ANTIMONY SULFIDE, Materials research bulletin, 33(8), 1998, pp. 1207-1211
Ultrafine powders of Sb2S3 have been successfully synthesized via a re
action between SbCl3 and Na2S3 in benzene at 150 degrees C for 12 h. T
he powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy, a
nd electronic diffraction data showed that the product is single ortho
rhombic Sb2S3 phase and well crystallized, with an average size of abo
ut 150 nm. The XRD patterns and IR spectrum demonstrated that the proc
ess in benzene prevents hydrolysis of SbCl3 and avoids the presence of
other impurities in the product. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
