Abstract
A new on-line synchronous generator simulator using personal computer is presented. It can simulate the dynamic response of generator which is represented by detailed equivalent circuit model in real time. In a ddition, it can be directly connected to the actual excitation system through the A/D and DIA converters. With this capability, the simulato r can be utilized for the dynamic response studies and the controller parameter tuning of the excitation system. Also, user friendly develop ed interfaces help the operator can learn the simulator operation skil l with little learning effort. The developed simulator is tested and v erified with an actual excitation system implemented on 5 kW generator .
