Abstract
Vancouver's downtown eastside, the city's skid row, is in a state of e mergency. Some 7000 injection drug users, about 40% of whom are HIV po sitive, mingle with prostitutes and the city's street people. The doct ors who care for them say it is a potent and dangerous mix.
