Gi. Litvinenko et A. Arestyakubovich, THEORETICAL-STUDY OF CHAIN TRANSFER IN ANIONIC-POLYMERIZATION .2. COPOLYMERIZATION ACCOMPANIED BY CHAIN TRANSFER TO SOLVENT, Makromolekulare Chemie. Theory and simulations, 2(6), 1993, pp. 929-938
The main factors determining molar mass characteristics of copolymers
formed in non-terminating copolymerization under the conditions of cha
in transfer to solvent are studied theoretically. The dependences of t
he mean polymerization degrees on conversion and monomer feed composit
ion for various values of reactivity ratios are obtained. The results
obtained greatly differ from those for homopolymerization. This is exp
lained by the contribution of cross-propagation reactions. In particul
ar, it is shown that at r1 much less than 1 and r2 much less than 1 th
e azeotropic copolymerization proceeds like the living one even if hom
opolymerization of each monomer is accompanied by extensive chain tran
sfer to solvent.
