A POLYMERASE-CHAIN-REACTION RESTRICTION-FRAGMENT-LENGTH-POLYMORPHISM (PCR-RFLP) ASSAY FOR THE DISCRIMINATION OF MITOCHONDRIAL-DNA FROM THE FLORIDA AND NORTHERN SUBSPECIES OF LARGEMOUTH BASS
Jra. Bremer et al., A POLYMERASE-CHAIN-REACTION RESTRICTION-FRAGMENT-LENGTH-POLYMORPHISM (PCR-RFLP) ASSAY FOR THE DISCRIMINATION OF MITOCHONDRIAL-DNA FROM THE FLORIDA AND NORTHERN SUBSPECIES OF LARGEMOUTH BASS, Transactions of the American Fisheries Society, 127(3), 1998, pp. 507-511
Distinct mitochondrial DNA haplotypes, based on the presence or absenc
e of a Tag I restriction site in the control region, distinguished lar
gemouth bass Micropterus salmoides of the northern subspecies (N = 62)
from the Florida subspecies (N = 28). The presence of either northern
(N = 6) or Florida (N = 3) haplotypes in Lake Wateree, South Carolina
, suggests that these haplotypes will be particularly useful in detect
ing the coexistence of these subspecies.
