The reflection spectra of the RbPbCl3, RbPb2Cl5 and KPb2Cl5 crystals i
n the fundamental absorption region (E = 2-12 eV) at T = 300 K and the
thermal evolution of the luminescence spectra in the temperature rang
e 4.2-300 K were investigated. The structure of exciton reflection in
RbPb2Cl5 and KPb2Cl5 crystals corresponds to four non-equivalent posit
ions of Pb2+-ions in the unit cell. Radiative relaxation of intrinsic
excitations in the crystal under study is considered to occur through
the emission of self-trapped excitons (STE). (C) 1998 Elsevier Science
