C. Granier et al., GYNECOLOGISTS AND PSYCHIATRISTS APPROACH TO REQUESTS FOR MEDICAL ASSISTED REPRODUCTION, Annales medico-psychologiques, 156(6), 1998, pp. 387-398
Although the law of bioethics, voted in july 1994, gives a frame to ri
te treatment of infertility the gynecologists are still dealing, in th
eir day to day activity, with baby requests that they find difficult t
o give response to for reasons that are non biological. The ame of pre
sent study! was to provide answers to gynecologists's request : In wha
t way can psychiatrists help the gynecologists to manage theses proble
matic requests ? By attending these gynecologists consultations, we we
re br-ought to question. the implications of the infertility consultat
ion that could be describe as a ''peculiar encounter ''. Our observati
ons led us so think that the true encounter was taking place between d
esirs and we tried to question these desirs, Our proposition was to su
ggest the gynecologists to participate in a supervision scheme, in ord
er to better understand this intersubjective encounter.
