S. Rezgui et al., METHANE CONVERSION TO ETHANE IN THE PRESENCE OF IRON-PROMOTED AND MANGANESE-PROMOTED SULFATED ZIRCONIA, Catalysis letters, 53(1-2), 1998, pp. 1-2
Sulfated zirconia promoted with 1.0 wt% Fe and 0.5 wt% Mn converts met
hane into ethane with traces of ethylene and acetylene. The initial re
action rate at 723 K and a methane partial pressure of 20 kPa was foun
d to be about 10(-9) mor(CH4)(gs)(-1), and deactivation was rapid, wit
h the reaction rate declining to half the maximum rate within an hour.
