The research presented in this paper focuses on business ethical value
s in China, a country in which the process of institutional transforma
tion has left cultural values in a state of flux. A survey was conduct
ed in China and the U.S. by using five business scenarios. Survey resu
lts show similarities between the Chinese and American decision choice
s for three out of five scenarios. However, the results reveal signifi
cant differences in rationales, even for similar decisions. The implic
ations of similarities and differences between the U.S. and Chinese sa
mples are discussed.
