C. Guillet et al., CHANGES IN CNTF RECEPTOR A EXPRESSION IN RAT SKELETAL-MUSCLE DURING THE RECOVERY PERIOD AFTER HINDLIMB SUSPENSION, Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 163(3), 1998, pp. 273-278
This study investigated whether modifications in the contractile funct
ion of rat muscle after 3 weeks of hindlimb suspension followed by dif
ferent recovery periods were associated with changes in ciliary neurot
rophic factor (CNTF) receptor alpha. CNTF receptor alpha was stronger
in control extensor digitorum longus (EDL) than soleus. CNTF receptor
alpha was increased in unweighted as compared to control soleus muscle
, while no significant changes occurred in EDL muscle. Furthermore. CN
TF level was not significantly modified in adult sciatic nerve.
