CLOSED TENDON INJURIES OF THE HAND AND WRIST IN ATHLETES

Tendon injuries in the hand and wrist are common in the athletic popul ation The key to treatment is diagnosing these injuries early so that appropriate treatment may he promptly initiated. A good result can usu ally be obtained when these injuries are treated early. Most can be tr eated with splinting, although some of these injuries may require oper ative intervention. When these injuries go untreated and are diagnosed late, a permanent disability may result.
