HARNESSING NONFORMAL SECTOR TO DEVELOP MANPOWER FOR IT NEEDS

The burgeoning demand for computer professionals at all levels opened the doors to the Non-formal sector. This led to the mushrooming of pri vate institutions which were ill-equipped to impart quality training. Parliament's concern led to the formation of a working group and the b irth of the unique DOEACC Scheme. The Scheme was formulated using thes e very institutes for generating quality manpower for the IT Industry by means of accreditation and a centralized Examination. Discussed in detail are the development, growth and benefits of harnessing the manp ower development in IT in the non-formal sector through the DOEACC Sch eme.
