Abstract
Grafting of 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (2-HEMA) on isotactic polyprop ylene (IPP) and in situ chlorinated polypropylene (CPP) by free radica l process was carried out at 110 degrees C using toluene as solvent. V arious conditions for grafting were optimized. The maximum percent of grafting of S-HEMA achieved on IPP was 3.6%, whereas that on in situ C PP was 8.7%. The products were characterized by Fourier transform infr ared spectroscopy and thermal and contact angle measurements. (C) 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
