Un. Roy et al., REFLECTIVITY OF CADMIUM-SULFIDE NANOCRYSTAL FILMS GROWN BY THE LANGMUIR-BLODGETT TECHNIQUE, Applied physics A: Materials science & processing, 67(2), 1998, pp. 259-261
Reflectivity studies have been done on nanocrystalline hexagonal CdS p
articulate films grown by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) technique under a
floating monolayer of arachidic acid. The band-edge peak (Eo) in the
reflectivity spectra has been found to be blue-shifted with respect to
that for bulk CdS. The appearance of the E-1(A) peak at about 5 eV is
evidence for the hexagonal nature of the particles with the c axis no
rmal or nearly normal to the plane of the film. This suggests the epit
axial nature of the grown particulate films. Another reflectivity peak
has been observed at about 320 nm. However, its origin is not yet cle
ar.
