The foliar application of growth retardants, cycocel (1000 mg/l) and p
aclobutrazol (250 mg/l) under two training systems, Bower and Geneva D
ouble Curtain, to grape cultivar 'Arkavati', one month after winter pr
uning led to reduction in shoot length and leaf area. fruit set, numbe
r of berries/bunch, and bunch weight were improved by both cycocel and
paclobutrazol. The bunch weight was higher under GDC, but the leaf de
velopment was greater under Bower. Both, cycocel and paclobutrazol, lo
wered the endogenous gibberellin content in shoot tips.
