This report describes a dorsolateral luxation of the scapula secondary
to traumatic rupture of the serratus ventralis, rhomboideus, teres ma
jor, and subscapularis muscles in a cat. A Velpeau sling was applied f
or four weeks but failed to stabilise the scapula. A good clinical out
come was achieved following attachment of the scapula to the fifth rib
using orthopaedic wire.
