SERVICE STRATEGIES FOR NEXT-GENERATION COMPUTER-NETWORKS

Service strategies of the next-generation computer network GMN-CL are discussed in the expanding environment of internet and multimedia appl ications. Firstly, GMN-CL service packages for mass-user, business-use r, and business-ta-mass-user are derived from the study of the foresee n multimedia services and their configurations. Secondly, the initial set of GMN-CL services to be provided as a combination of service pack ages is summarized. Thirdly, NTT's higher-layer application services l ocated in real-time streaming, information retrieval, and groupware ar e characterized. The advantages of using GMN-CL services for these app lications are studied.
