Abstract
Total syntheses of avenaciolide and isoavenaciolide were achieved in s ix and three steps respectively based on starting chloropropargyl deri vatives; the key step in such syntheses involves intramolecular alkoxy carbonylation of tungsten-eta(1)-propargyl complexes.
