Abstract
Tl2Au4S3 was synthesized by reacting gold with reactive fluxes of Tl2S and S; its crystal structure is characterised by sheets of buckled 16 -membered rings of Au and S with short Au-Au contacts between the shee ts; the Au-Au bonding has been analysed through high-level band struct ure calculations.
