In this paper, an adaptive dead zone inverse is proposed for control o
f systems containing an unknown dead zone. It is shown that the effect
of the unknown dead zone on the closed-loop control system can be eli
minated asymptotically if both input and output measurements of the de
ad zone are available. Two schemes are proposed along with their conve
