The thermally stable dihydrogenosulfide (C5Me5)2Zr(SH)2 (1) has been o
btained from the corresponding dichloride (2) and hydrogen sulfide in
the presence of triethylamine. 1 reacts with sulfur in boiling toluene
and with hydrogen sulfide at 80-degrees-C affording (C5Me5)2ZrS3. 2 c
ombines to ''Li2S'' leading to the bimetallasulfane [(C5Me5),Zr(mu-S)]
2. A mixture of (C5Me5)2Zr(OH)(SH) and dihydroxyde was formed by the r
eaction of water on the dihydrogenosulfide. The H-1 NMR chemical schif
ts of the compounds are discussed.
