The cobalt(II)-, nickel(II)- and copper(II)-complexes of diethyl-(2-ox
o-1-phenylethyl)phosphonate 1 (2, 3, and 4, respectively) are synthesi
zed using the corresponding metal acetates. Their structure is studied
by spectroscopic (IR, electronic and EPR) and magnetochemical methods
. The experimental data indicate that the cobalt and nickel complexes
2 and 3 are octahedrically coordinated by the bidentate phosphonyl and
acetate ligands. EPR evidences of the formation of two different Cu(I
I) complex species in solution are also obtained.
