A HISTORICAL REVIEW (1965-1997) OF STUDIES ON CLASS, HEALTH, AND QUALITY-OF-LIFE - A PERSONAL ACCOUNT

This article is based on a speech presented by the author at the annua l meeting of the American Public Health Association in November 1997, on the occasion of the association's homage to Professor Vicente Navar ro's 30 years of research on the relationship between class, health, a nd quality of life. In the article, the author expands on the historic al evolution of this type of research in the United States, its differ ent dimensions and consequences.
