Cmj. Chang et al., A NEW APPARATUS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF P-X-Y DIAGRAMS AND HENRYS CONSTANTS IN HIGH-PRESSURE ALCOHOLS WITH CRITICAL CARBON-DIOXIDE, The Journal of supercritical fluids, 12(3), 1998, pp. 223-237
P-x-y diagrams and Henry's constants for carbon dioxide+methanol, etha
nol, acetone, octanol, nonanol and decanol were determined by a novel
technique of density measurement at different temperatures and pressur
es up to 8 MPa. Solubilities of carbon dioxide in these six binary mix
tures were found to increase with applied pressure, but to decrease wi
th increasing temperature. Also, Henry's constants for CO2 in these si
x systems decreased with ascending pressure but increased with elevate
d temperature. The Peng-Robinson equation of state and the Patel-Teja
equation of state, with two adjustable parameters, were able to correl
ate equilibrium data successfully. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V. All
