Abstract
Various diselenides 1-8 have been examined with respect to their gluta thione peroxidase-like activities (GPx-activities) as an index of thei r antioxidant properties. The glutathione oxidase activities of these compounds have also been reviewed reflecting the pro-oxidant propertie s (GOx-activities) and could be used as an index of cell toxicity.:Bas ed on a qualitative structure-activity relationship some trends are su ggested.
