Abstract
We have investigated the production of the BSCCO 2223 phase by using f our different types of starting chemical compounds with the same therm al treatment. Samples have been characterised in various aspects, and the 2223 phase volume fractions have been accurately determined by app lying the effective medium theory to magnetic susceptibility measureme nts. The results show that polycrystalline samples are well described by the spherical inclusion granular model, and that organic precursors strongly inhibit the production of the 2223 phase with respect to ino rganic ones.
