The gamma-ray spectrum analysis code HYPERMET-PC has been significantl
y upgraded since its introduction in the first k(0)-Users Workshop (19
92). Some aspects of the implemented procedures in the new version 5.0
, such as the novel approach to handle tandem LFC spectra and the bene
fit of using ortho-normal polynomials for fitting efficiency curves wi
ll be outlined. Having realized the importance of quality assurance in
applied gamma-ray spectrometry, additional utilities have been incorp
orated for checking system parameters: nonlinearity, energy resolution
, etc. The new Nuclide Identification routine makes the program suitab
le for qualitative analysis both of NAA and PGAA type.
