SOFT-TISSUE PROBLEMS IN OLDER ADULTS

This article describes common soft tissue problems encountered in olde r adults, including fibromyalgia, selected bursitis/tendinitis syndrom es, nerve entrapment syndromes, and miscellaneous topics such as Dupuy tren's contractures, trigger fingers, palmar fasciitis, and reflex-sym pathetic dystrophy. Clinical presentations, diagnosis, and treatment a re emphasized. These are conditions that are frequently encountered bu t are generally diagnosed as arthritis or normal age-related problems. This article will hopefully enlighten the reader in distinguishing be tween these conditions.
