M. Kafih et al., INFERIOR VENA-CAVA LEIOMYOSARCOMA - REPORT OF A SURGICALLY RESECTED CASE, Annales de Gastroenterologie et d'Hepatologie, 34(2), 1998, pp. 67-70
Authors report an observation of leiomyosarcoma of the inferior vena c
ava (IVC) revealed by a mass in the right hypochondria and surgically
resected. A review of literature recalls its frequent occurence in wom
en, and its insidious evolution; the diagnosis depends on morphologic
and topographic patterns (ultrasonography, computed tomography (CT) an
d cavography). The treatment is exclusively surgical. The prognosis is
poor due almost to the diagnosis delay.
