Resource management partnerships among a wide variety of agencies and
private groups are increasing in number across the country. The Colora
do Rockies Regional Cooperative represents an early example of a grass
roots effort of 14 partners to cooperate in the areas of research, edu
cation, and resource management. The cooperative conducted a survey of
existing resource management partners and partnerships to determine w
hat is necessary to establish and sustain effective partnerships. Surv
ey findings, recent literature, and the experience of the Colorado Roc
kies Regional Cooperative suggest specific strategies for sustaining e
ffective resource management partnerships.
