Abstract
This review paper will focus on the molecular biological, biochemical and biophysical aspects of the following three efflux pumps. P-glycopr otein (Pgp), Multidrug Resistance Protein (MRP) and Lung cancer Resist ance-related Protein. Since suppression of the function of these pumps has clinical implications, novel approaches developed in our laborato ry for blocking the function of Pgp and MRP are also discussed. The se cond part of this review will summarize the clinical significance and the results of clinical trials designed to suppress the effects of the se efflux pumps.
