STUDIES ON THE SYNTHESES AND PROPERTIES OF POLY(ESTER-ANHYDRIDE)S FORDDS

4,4'-(Adipyldioxyethyoxy)dibenzoic acid (1a), 4,4'-(sebacoyldioxyethyo xy)dibenzoic acid (1b) and 4,4'-(benzoyldioxyethyoxy)dibenzoic acid (1 c) were synthesized and converted into mixed anhydrides by the reactio n with acetic anhydride, Poly(esteranhydride)s 2a, 2b and 2c were yiel ded by subsequent melt polycondensation, Their chemical structures wer e confirmed by H-1 NMR, IR, UV and elemental analysis. In vitro degrad ation of poly(ester-anhydride)s in phosphate buffer solution at 37 deg rees C was determined. Drug release profile of Ciprofloxacin was also studied.
