M. Nakaiwa et al., DYNAMIC BEHAVIOR OF AN IMMOBILIZED PAPAIN MEMBRANE SYSTEM UNDER FORCED-OSCILLATIONS, ACH, models in chemistry, 135(3), 1998, pp. 329-342
Nonlinear dynamic behavior of a diffusion-reaction system involved in
an enzymatic membrane containing papain has been investigated numerica
lly. Forced external oscillations of substrate or DH have led to vario
us phase-locking patterns in the parameter space of the forcing freque
ncy relative to the natural frequency of the unperturbed oscillations
and the amplitude. Chaotic behavior near the period-doubling cascade i
s observed in the parameter space. When the external conditions are va
ried periodically, this behavior is found everywhere in the membrane;
however, the magnitude of the largest Lyapunov exponent characterizing
it depends on the location.
