Abstract
A new type of monomorph actuator has been produced that uses twinned l ithium tetraborate, a paraelectric piezo-crystal, to improve the hyste resis and creep in conventional actuators employing ferroelectric mate rials. Its characteristics have been examined in comparison with other actuators. The piezoelectric constant (d31) for this actuator is deri ved from measurements and compared with the calculated value.
