Abstract
A simple equation of state (EOS) applicable to defining autoclave test environments was developed. The approach is particularly helpful when mixed gases (carbon dioxide [CO2]/hydrogen sulfide [H2S]) must be use d. Test liquids may consist of an aqueous and a hydrocarbon phase, or the gases may be added at room temperature (RT) prior to heat-up. Solu bilities for CO2 and H2S in various liquids have been reviewed and dat a verifying the EOS presented. A sensitivity analysis reviewed the eff ects of possible misassessment of the solubilities, and comments have been made regarding the process of preparing test environments in pres sure vessels.
