Abstract
The complexing characteristics of three macrocyclic polyamines, bearin g pyridyl)-2,2'-bypiridyl-5-yl-methyl}Ru(II)-pendent arms, towards Cu( II) and Ni(II) in aqueous systems have been investigated by luminescen ce quenching. There are large differences in the stability constants v alues when compared to the corresponding complexes formed by the paten t compounds 9N3, 12N4. This is explained using molecular models of the free ligands and their transition metal complexes.
