Abstract
Four children are presented and their eye malformations described. One girl had bilateral anophthalmos, a boy and a girl had bilateral sever e microphthalmos, and a boy had a unilateral optic disc coloboma. The mothers of all four children were treated with carbamazepine during pr egnancy. The teratogenic effect of carbamazepine and its likely role i n the genesis of the eye malformations is discussed.
