Abstract
Magneli phases of titanium oxides are known to have many interesting p roperties such as a conductivity comparable to that of graphite, a hig h level of chemical stability, and large overpotentials for gas evolvi ng reactions. In this paper the possibilities for synthesis of pure Ma gneli phases are reported and the influence of various experimental pa rameters on the electrochemical properties is discussed. Several chemi cal, electrochemical, physicochemical, and physical experiments were p erformed. The opportunities for technological applications in the fiel d of electroplating. in the recycling of process solutions, as support ing substrates for electrocatalysts, and as collector materials are co nsidered.
