PARTICLE SEPARATION IN A VERTICAL SHAKER

The segregation phenomena may exist in a granular bed with a binary mi xture due to the external vibrated excitation. This paper studies one larger particle rising from the bottom of a vibrated granular bed fill ed with smaller particles. The rising velocity of the larger particle is experimentally measured. The influences of the vibrational amplitud e, the vibrational acceleration and the Vibrational frequency on the s egregation process are analyzed.
