VISUALIZATION OF THE HEART DURING BONE-SCINTIGRAPHY IN A PATIENT WITHPROSTATIC-CANCER

We report on an 89 year old patient with prostata cancer who underwent bone scintigraphy. During this procedure the myocardium had an abnorm al uptake of T(c)99 m MDP. The scintigram showed complete visualisatio n of the heart without any other concentration in the bones. The patie nt did not have any major heart abnormality nor had he had any previou s treatment with electrocardioversion, chemotherapy or medication. Abn ormal radiopharmaceutical uptake in the heart is rare. It can occur in patients having had recent electrocardioversion, treatment with Doxor ubicin or myocardial infarction.
